Interpret cardiopulmonary exercise test results in children and adolescents with a Fontan circulation using normative data derived directly from the Pediatric Heart Network Fontan dataset.. Returns Fontan-specific Z-scores and percentiles for five key CPET parameters, sex-specific, from age 6 to 18 years.
How to Use This Calculator and its use in Fontan Patients
Cardiopulmonary exercise testing is one of the most informative investigations available in the longitudinal management of a child or adolescent with a Fontan circulation. A CPET measures the body's ability to deliver and use oxygen during progressive physical work, yielding data that reflect the integrated performance of the heart, lungs, and exercising muscles. The parameters covered by this calculator are based on published normative data.
To use the calculator, enter the patient's age and sex, then enter whichever CPET parameters are available. The calculator returns a Z-score and a full percentile reference table for each parameter. Results are specific to the Fontan reference population described below. They are not comparable to healthy normative values.
